Artist Statement
Field of Color Series

My canvas is a field of color that is continuously in play from edge to edge, rather than organized in terms of figure ground relationship.  I alternate between work grounded in landscape structure and work that explores non-objective shape, line and color.

In viewing non-objective work the mind needs to identify or create relationships with form because the stillness, no movement of thought, makes us uncomfortable.   One might think of non-objective work as a meditation… a peaceful place to rest the mind. We need not... identify with form on the two dimensional surface of the canvas.
